HIAA Appoints New VP Business Development & Chief Commercial Officer

Halifax, N.S. – Bert van der Stege has been appointed Vice President Business Development & Chief Commercial Officer of Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA), effective October 24, 2016. He replaces Ian Arthur, who recently resigned from HIAA, for family reasons.

In his new position, Mr. van der Stege will be responsible for the Airport Authority’s revenue development, both aeronautical and non-aeronautical. This includes overseeing strategies to increase flights, destinations, passengers and cargo; and to grow revenue from non-aeronautical sources including parking, shops, restaurants, advertising, and vehicle rentals. He will also take the lead to attract and retain terminal building tenants as well as the commercial development of airport property.

Qatar Airways Cargo Lands at Halifax Stanfield

New Cargo Flight to Add Approximately $1 Million in Export Value to Province Weekly

Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) has announced Qatar Airways Cargo will launch a weekly Wednesday service to Doha with a stop in Zaragoza, Spain. The new service, set to begin on July 20, 2016, will operate with a B777-200 freighter. The freighter can carry up to 103 tonnes of cargo. Much of that cargo will be Nova Scotia lobster and silver hake.
