Q. What security measures are in place at the airport?
A. Halifax Stanfield International Airport is serious about safety and security for our passengers and staff. We comply fully with all government-issued security measures, always meeting or exceeding Transport Canada standards.

Q. What can I pack in my carry-on luggage?
A. The Aeronautics Act stipulates that security measures must be undertaken in Canadian airports to ensure the safety of the travelling public. These safety measures include the screening of passengers and their luggage. Click to see what you can pack in carry-on luggage.

Q. What parking options are available and how much do they cost?

Q. Are there meeting rooms available for rent at the airport?
A. Meeting room facilities are not available at Halifax Stanfield International Airport. However, the following nearby hotels also offer fully-equipped meeting facilities: Quality Inn Halifax Airport, Hilton Garden Inn Halifax Airport, Holiday Inn Express.

Q. What ground transportation options are available at the airport?
A. Numerous ground transportation services are available at curbside in the arrivals area, including car rentals, taxis and limos, and bus service to downtown and various destinations throughout the province. For further information about specific destinations, contact the Airport Visitor Information Centre.

Q. Where is the airport?
A. Halifax Stanfield International Airport is off Exit 6 of Highway 102 at 1 Bell Boulevard in Enfield, Nova Scotia. Click here for geographic coordinates.

Q. Who should I contact if I would like to do business at the airport?
A. Halifax Stanfield International Airport is open for all types of business. Whether you are a retail shop, an airline or an aviation service provider looking for land or warehouse space, we are eager to help you.

Q. Is there a currency exchange location in the airport?
A. Yes. You can exchange currency, purchase stamps, mail letters, buy lottery tickets and travel insurance at the airport. There is a booth on the main level of the terminal building which can provide these services.

Q. Is there an automated teller machine (ATM) in the airport?
A. Yes. There are eight DirectCash ATMs. Four are located on the main level – one in the ticket counter area, one in domestic arrivals, one near the food court, and one in the retail area; three are located on the departures level – one at the entrance to the departures level, one near Beaches Café and Bar, and one across from Starbucks, and one is located on the lower level of the parkade, near the car rental counters.

As well, there is a Royal Bank of Canada® full service machine, located on the main level in the hallway between the main lobby and domestic arrivals, and a U.S. currency ATM, operated by TravelEx Canada, in the U.S. preclearance departures area.

Q. Can I purchase a pre-paid phone card at the airport?
A. There are a variety of locations where prepaid phone cards are available in the airport. They can be purchased from the Visitor Information Centre on the main level, or from many of the various retailers located throughout the terminal building.

Q. Can I bring my dog into the terminal building with me?
A. No. Only service animals are permitted in the terminal building at Halifax Stanfield International Airport. This is necessary as pets are a distraction to dogs working for the RCMP, Canada Customs and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. The only exception is guide and service dogs accompanying passengers and visitors. Pets being transported are required to remain in airline-approved kennels while in the terminal building.

Q. What time does the airport close? Can I stay there overnight?
A. The terminal building is open 24 hours a day, but many of the retail and food services do close at night. There are no overnight accommodations available in the airport itself however, there are three hotels in the immediate vicinity of the airport, and other accommodations are available in the Greater Halifax area. Q. Does the airport have a chapel?
A. Halifax Stanfield International Airport’s non-denominational worship centre is located on the second level mezzanine of the terminal building, and is available as a service to the airport community and the travelling public.

Q. Is there a place at the airport to watch aircraft?
A
. Yes. The airport has a public observation flight deck on the third level, accessible via the glass elevators in the main lobby. There is also an aircraft viewing window on the main level.

Q. Where can I get information about tourist attractions and events?
A. The Nova Scotia Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage operates a Visitor Information Centre near domestic arrivals on the main level of the terminal building. Knowledgeable and friendly travel counsellors provide answers to your questions and offer a wealth of information to make your visit more enjoyable.
